What does it mean to be an admin for Dropbox?

The admin console provides key insights into your team’s activities, as well as shortcuts to important and common admin actions. It allows you access to everything you need to do within Dropbox for teams.

Go to the admin console and select Settings in the left sidebar.

You can choose whether to make SSO optional or required for your team.

Under Authentication, select Single sign-on.

After that, if you’re using an existing identity provider, you can enter the sign-in URL and X.509 certificate from your provider.

Adding additional licenses is easy! Visit the admin console and select the Billing tab. Then select Manage account and Manage licenses. Change the number of licenses (you’ll see a price displayed as well), and then select Add licenses.

I’ve got more people joining my team. How do I add more licenses to my Dropbox business account?

No, not unless you have another team admin on your account. By default, everything in your Dropbox business account is private, just like it is for other users. However, other team admins can sign in as you and see your Dropbox business files.

As an admin, can anyone see my files?

There are two ways you can find team members. Use the search bar at the top of the dashboard to find current members, or find old or deleted members under the Members tab in the admin console.

As an admin, you don’t have to go it alone! Setting up admin access for others on your team is simple.

Invite your team member as you would any new member. If they choose to join the team, then they’ll be prompted to decide what they want to do with their existing files: merge their files with the Dropbox business account or create a separate personal Dropbox account for their files. Also, keep in mind that if that team member is part of an existing Dropbox business team, they can’t join a second team.

If a shared link stops working, there can be a few different reasons why. Check to see whether the link was disabled or expired. An admin may have also changed sharing settings for the team, so it may be worth checking with them.

My shared link stopped working! Why?

It’s possible that the folder isn’t actively shared between collaborators. Log in to dropbox.com and select the Shared tab. If the folder says Not added, it means you haven’t yet added it to your Dropbox. Just select Add and it should sync back to your Dropbox.

Why did my shared folder stop syncing?

Yes, unless all members of the folder are part of the same Dropbox business team account. If that’s the case, the shared folder will only be counted against the team’s shared storage space once.

Before you enable SSO, you first need to go to your identity provider and follow their configuration instructions. Then, go to your admin console, select Settings, and select Single sign-on under Authentication settings. Select whether you want SSO to be optional or required, then follow the instructions.
