Web Session Control

With web session control, admins can manage the length of team members' sign-in duration on dropbox.com, enhancing security measures for organizational data access. Learn how to sign your team out of all Dropbox web sessions in this short video.

What is web session control?

Dropbox gives team admins the ability to control how long a member can be signed in to Dropbox.com.

In order to access this setting, you'll go to the admin console, then navigate to settings. Almost at the very bottom, you'll find "web session control."

Inside this section, we have two settings that an administrator can choose from:

  1. Fixed session length: This determines how long a member can remain signed in before being forced to sign back into Dropbox.com. The default setting is one month, but it can be adjusted to as short as one day. If you choose a shorter time period, you'll receive an alert indicating how many members would immediately be signed out of their Dropbox accounts.

  2. Idle session length: This sets the duration a member can be idle before they are automatically signed out of Dropbox. Idle sessions can range from ten minutes to forty-eight hours, allowing for sessions to remain open for up to forty-eight hours before termination.
